Variety

Taking a slightly different direction today. As you know, I consider myself a writer, obvious to folks who have read this long-time blog. All I write, here or in the fiction I write, is centered on the importance of having faith in Christ.

I have not been diligent in my writing this year. I can give you explanations or excuses, sometimes way too similar. Because I can get so easily distracted when my focus is not on being the person God has created me to be, just about anything can distract me from accomplishing what is important to me: writing.

I determined that two major things were distracting me. My home and my television and internet time. To take care of the first, I took on what I called my October Project. Which was basically a reorganization of my home in accordance with what works for me. I’ve had others help organize, and it ended up being what worked for them and sometimes created more work and more irritation for me. So, I determined I would take back my life in that area.

Because of my health issues with my legs, I get assistance with some of my home tasks, and I made some changes there. A lot of that is my own determination to stand by what I know I need and not just go along with what someone else said.

I then determined the November Project would mean losing most of my movie and television streaming apps, plus my social media sites. Then I reestablished my time for Bible study and praying. November will be confirming patterns that will continue spiritual growth and support my becoming serious again about my role as a faith blogger and an author of Christian novels.

So, just a little about me, and another piece about how a life of faith can touch different areas.

And, yes, I’m going to plug on this site the resurrection of the website of my author site, under my pseudonym, Ellen D. Miller – Author of Christian Mystery, Suspense, Romance. Any future sharing about my fiction writing can be found there.

Now, back to more of a normal Life of Faith blog post. I was going to post the video devotion this morning on Psalm 91, but instead I think that will become something I want to work through and share in my own words. But not with this blog, or you’d be reading for quite some time.

So, instead, I’ll just give you the verses to look at, and hopefully we’ll get to discussing it.

Blessings, my friends! – Vicki

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;2 they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
