I finished a book this morning. It took me three days to read this book because I kept putting it down. Well written, but hard for me to read. A good imagination sometimes makes things difficult, because this story took place in a world I never thought much about or really wanted to be a part of.
But because it was as much a conversion story as a story of hate, violence, greed, and crime, as well as one of shaky faith, loyalty, family love, and commitment, I needed to see how the final surrender to God would happen. So I’d pick the book up and read a little more.
And remind myself of the reality that so many people need the Lord, in Thailand or in small-town America. We’re much alike, you know. It doesn’t matter what country; people may think they have made their way in their own power, but sadly are too often the servants of the deceiver. But freedom for a new life as only Christ can give is theirs for the asking.
So what is my task? Our Task?
Ask it of yourself, but don’t stop there. Answer and then act. As believers, we can make a difference wherever we are, in whatever we are able to do. God can, and will, use as little as a smile and a kind word to open doors for you, or someone else, to draw a person into a lasting relationship with Him. Trust that. Trust Him.
God bless you.- Vicki
