Sometimes people of the modern world, if they accept God, can see Him as a benevolent God who only delivers to people their deepest worldly desires.
God does bless people, with the desires He puts in their hearts, as they strive to serve Him, serve others for His Glory. And sometimes we forget the part of God that demands justice. He is long suffering, but justice does, and will come.
And as we read David’s Psalm below, we see the heart of God reflected in the words of a warrior, but still a man after God’s own heart. A man whose desires and goals are to experience God in such a way that he knows God’s shared love and delight in him in the fullest way.
As I read today’s Psalm it was somewhat painful for me to see the reality of the world then being so much the same as the world today. Evil exists at different levels, in different people, at different times. It will continue to do so as the enemy continues to work his way into the minds, the hearts, the souls of people.
Change can happen, starting with each one of us. People are praying for revival in our country, in our world. Before that can happen, each of us needs to seek personal revival, which automatically spreads to others you encounter.
And then we are accomplishing Jesus’ final instruction, His great commandment in Matthew 28:19-20(ESV) “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Trust God. Accept the gift of Jesus. Don’t just speak the words, but truly live the life of a follower of Christ. Change will come. How quickly can depend on us. The peace we need to endure even the worst of times we experience now can only come from Jesus.
Words that apply to me as well, my friends.
God bless you! – Vicki
The King Rejoices in the Lord’s Strength
To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.
21 O Lord, in your strength the king rejoices,
and in your salvation how greatly he exults!
2 You have given him his heart’s desire
and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah
3 For you meet him with rich blessings;
you set a crown of fine gold upon his head.
4 He asked life of you; you gave it to him,
length of days forever and ever.
5 His glory is great through your salvation;
splendor and majesty you bestow on him.
6 For you make him most blessed forever;[a]
you make him glad with the joy of your presence.
7 For the king trusts in the Lord,
and through the steadfast love of the Most High he shall not be moved.
8 Your hand will find out all your enemies;
your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9 You will make them as a blazing oven
when you appear.
The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
and fire will consume them.
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
and their offspring from among the children of man.
11 Though they plan evil against you,
though they devise mischief, they will not succeed.
12 For you will put them to flight;
you will aim at their faces with your bows.
13 Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength!
We will sing and praise your power.
