It’s four in the morning, and here I am. I’ll take some new medication in a little while that I will have a reaction of sorts to. Where my stomach is not happy, where food is the last thing I want, and where lethargy has me taking several naps in the day. Thus, my early morning efforts before that blah begins.

It was a sudden change because the leg issue that had been my companion for too long reoccurred over the weekend. So, doctor visits, therapy visits, and new treatment plans for at least a month. Prevention of something serious in the future. It’s not a major worry as far as I’m concerned.

One thing I was reminded of the other day as I waited to see my provider was that I hold fast to Romans 8:28 –All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.

A simple statement of God’s love, but so rich and deep in the truth.

All things – who else but God can make such a statement of truth.

Work together—Now, working together is something that we humans often find difficult. Truly working together is to be of one mind, as the Bible teaches. But God can make all things, situations, people, etc., work as He directs. Powerful.

Working together for good—We may think we are doing so, but do we always accomplish it? No, we need God’s guidance and love to do what God displays as part of His nature.

For those who love God – Conditions are the reality of our faith. If we do this, God will do that. God wants things to work for our good, and they do, but as in any relationship, there is a two-way responsibility.

And are called according to His purpose – unless we understand this phrase, we can easily miss the power of this verse. Notice first the word And. We can love God, but we also need to be called. What does it mean to you to be called? What is His purpose? Has God called you into a relationship with Christ? Not just a head knowledge of Him, but also heart knowledge.? Have you repented of sin and dedicated your life to God and his purpose, which is to be a part of bringing others to Christ with whatever gifts He’s given you?

My definitions are simple ones. Your best plan is to research and see what the Bible says. But I know personally that I have been called according to His purpose. What comfort and joy there is, even in confusing and difficult times, to know that all things will work out for my good. Maybe not how I would have done it, but I’m not God. He sees far more than I ever could, and He knows what my good is far better than I do.

The verse is worth some meditation.

Blessings, my friends. – Vicki

Quote of the week

Ephesians 5:1-2 (World English Bible)

Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
