God’s plan for us, for assuring we have joy despite difficult times, was Jesus. As we celebrate His coming during this Advent season, finding different scriptures about joy can benefit us greatly. After all, the scriptures are God’s Word; God breathed through the Holy Spirit into the hearts of the writers.

I’ve included a few such scriptures. Take the time to read each one. Meditate on it. Read the surrounding verses to get the full context of what was written. Reflect on how it has, or is, working in your life today. In the future, rejoice when you recognize how impactful these words are as you find joy.

Romans 15:13 ~ May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.

Romans 12:12 ~ Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.

Philippians 4:4 ~ Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.

James 1:2 ~ Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,

Galatians 5:22 ~ But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

John 16:24 ~ Until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

Proverbs 17:22 ~ A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Quote of the week

Ephesians 5:1-2 (World English Bible)

Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
