Advent starts this year on Sunday, Dec. 3. This blog has started early, combining the Advent season with the Christmas season, which is the same thing in my mind.

During the four weeks of Advent I’ll focus on each of the specific aspects of the traditional Advent candles, plus add music, thoughts, and other things I am discovering to help me stay focused on the Christ in Christmas.

Today you get two posts. The song I had chosen some time back to post on Dec. 1, and had the posting time and date preset. It has always seemed to me the perfect opening hymn of the Christmas season.

This is the normal early morning spending time with God post. I have Christian Christmas songs playing softly as I did some scripture study, and then started this blog post.

Rejoice in the traditions of Christians throughout the world as we reflect on the birth of Christ, and what it meant to those who awaited His coming, and those of us who embrace His coming all these years later.
