“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Psalm 23:6 ESV

I started to write about the verse above, and after reading the related scripture, I found that God is leading me in a different direction in this week’s blog. Which means starting all over again.

Instead of only Psalm 23:6, I will touch on Psalm 23 and other scriptures. The theme remains goodness and mercy, or grace and mercy, as some Bible interpretations say.

Psalm 23 is a familiar chapter and is quoted in various circumstances. Sermons have been preached, books written, and songs written on these words of David. And yet, it continues to draw the attention of many, as in my case this week.

I’ll share Psalm 23 with you today. I suggest you read it out loud slowly as if you’ve never read or heard it before, and the new journey begins tomorrow.

The Lord Is My Shepherd

A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake

 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.
Psalm 23 ESV

Quote of the week

Ephesians 5:1-2 (World English Bible)

Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
