There is so much unknown in this world. Even though we are inundated with news, social media, and entertainment…what can you count on as something you truly know to be…true?

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” Jesus made that statement, which is also a promise. That is the most certain truth we can hang onto as believers.

There are a lot of churches as well as non-churched people out there preaching that these are the end times. Maybe they are. There are certainly signs the Bible told us about that have happened. But, that’s been happening for some time now. We are told we can’t know the exact time, but we can recognize the season. Only our seasons are dramatically changing. Is that another sign pointing us to the return of our Lord and Savior?

More questions come to mind. But what I need to do, what I personally need to do, is trust what I read in the Bible. Trust God.

I’ve said it before, and forgive me if the repetition is getting old, but it’s all in the words, how they are used, and the meanings of what was written so long ago. Human nature hasn’t changed. Sin hasn’t changed. Cultures, though different, seem to recycle both their holiness and their sinfulness. Yet, God remains patient amid this chaos because He doesn’t want anyone to perish. There is hope still. Seek God. He’s promised if you seek Him, you will find Him.

But don’t fall into the familiar phrase, “God will forgive me, I’m saved,” when sin occurs. There is truth in that, but there has to be legitimate repentance. A deep sorrow for displeasing the Lord, and not in getting caught doing wrong.

Forgiveness is there. But, consequences remain. And if you consistently pick sin over righteousness, heaven will not be the same for you as for the righteous man or woman who with all that is in them live a life devoted to pleasing their God.

Know what it all means. Don’t let the surface insignificance in some excuses rob you of your rightful place. God has a position for you in Heaven. A job for you to do. Whether running a country or sweeping streets depends on your heart here on earth.

I am not claiming this is accurate theology. I’m sharing thoughts that are running through my head right now and that God may have changed by tomorrow. I trust Him to set me straight when it is needed. My main thought, in these words, which are as much for me as for you, is even in the vast unknown, there is God. And there is so much of Him to learn. Due diligence, my friends, in getting to know Him.

Quote of the week

Ephesians 5:1-2 (World English Bible)

Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children. Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
